2 MIN

Learn the workflow

Understand the six decisions that take a real model from import to finished media.

Start the quick guide →

Your first product video in six clear steps.

The controls follow the same order you would use in a physical product studio. Finish one decision, then move forward.

1

IMPORT

Drop in a GLB, STL, STEP, or another supported model.

2

CONFIRM

Review the detected Width, Height, Depth, and unit label.

3

ROTATE

Use the six 90° controls if needed, then save the rotation once.

4

ANIMATE

Choose a motion and set speed, video time, and camera zoom.

5

STYLE

Choose a material, tap Next, then set the background and branding.

6

EXPORT

Capture a high-resolution PNG or render the finished MP4.

Best first test

Start with a GLB if your model includes textures. Start with a STEP file when clean engineering geometry matters most.

One screen, three working areas.

Left: workflow tabs

Move from Model and Rotate through Motion, Finish, Background, Branding, Still Shot, and Export.

Center: live 3D viewer

Drag to orbit the camera, use the six view buttons for exact sides, and set viewer zoom while composing the product.

Right: active controls

Only the settings for the selected workflow step appear here, keeping the current decision focused.

  • Back to Dashboard returns to your company workspace without signing out.
  • Log Out ends the current session completely.
  • Play Motion previews the selected effect; pause it whenever you want to compose a still.
  • View buttons snap to 3D, front, back, left, right, or top views.

Make one complete video before changing everything.

Use these settings for your first practice run. The point is not to make your masterpiece; it is to learn where every important control lives. Masterpieces are notoriously bad at waiting patiently for tutorials.

  1. 1Import one uncomplicated modelUse a GLB, STL, or STEP file with a clear front and a manageable triangle count.
  2. 2Confirm the sizeCheck Width, Height, Depth, and the unit label. If it looks physically reasonable, continue.
  3. 3Set the starting orientationUse the 90° controls only if needed, then click Save Rotation & Continue to Motion.
  4. 4Choose ClassySet speed to 1.00×, video time to 10 seconds, and camera zoom near 115%.
  5. 5Apply one obvious materialTry Concrete, Brushed Aluminum, Oak, or Matte so the visual change is easy to recognize.
  6. 6Build a simple sceneChoose Light or Dark, then add a logo only if one is ready.
  7. 7Capture a stillPause the motion, choose Landscape and High Resolution, then download the PNG.
  8. 8Export the videoChoose Landscape, Full HD, and Download MP4. Keep the tab open until rendering finishes.
You know the Studio when…

You can import, save orientation, choose motion, change a material, set the scene, and export without hunting for the next tab. That is the whole job.

Choose the best source available.

BEST FOR MATERIALS

GLB / GLTF

Best for presentation-ready models, colors, textures, and materials. GLB is the most dependable single-file option.

BEST FOR CAD

STEP / IGES / BREP

Model Motion Studio triangulates solid CAD geometry in the browser and preserves part colors when the file provides them.

BEST FOR 3D PRINTING

STL

Reliable mesh geometry, but no standard real-world unit and usually no texture or material information.

GENERAL MESHES

OBJ / PLY

Useful interchange formats. Embedded vertex color can be preserved in PLY; linked OBJ texture packages are not yet bundled automatically.

Current import list

GLB, GLTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, BREP, and BRP.

Import sets the product size.

The Studio measures the model bounding box—the farthest visible geometry along Width, Height, and Depth. That automatically sets the proportions and camera framing.

KNOWN UNIT

glTF and CAD

glTF uses meters. STEP and IGES are converted into millimeters while preserving their physical scale.

OPTIONAL UNIT LABEL

STL, OBJ, and PLY

These formats do not reliably store a unit. The detected numbers are correct; choose the label that matches the source. This never blocks rotation, motion, or export.

Unexpected giant or tiny size?

That is usually a unit mismatch, not damaged geometry. Select whether the source was modeled in millimeters, centimeters, meters, or inches.

Rotation is separate from units

Imported models open in a neutral front view. Use the six 90° controls only when needed, then click Save Rotation. STL and engineering CAD files are normalized from Z-up to the Studio’s Y-up motion space automatically.

Choose the movement that sells the model.

Every effect is scaled to the imported model and combines object movement, camera framing, cinematic banking, and moving studio lights. The live preview and downloaded video use the same motion engine. Use Reverse to run any effect in the opposite direction.

01

Product size in frame. The viewer supports 50% through 300%.

FLASH is intentionally brighter

Its controlled exposure pulses are part of the effect. If you want energetic movement without flashes, choose Impact Montage.

Preview the materials a real product could be made from.

Original

Preserves imported materials and textures.

Stone & Mineral

Concrete, plaster, granite, marble, and sandstone.

Wood

Natural oak, dark walnut, and maple grain.

Metal

Aluminum, steel, brass, copper, and chrome.

Polymers

Matte, gloss, ABS, polycarbonate, silicone, and rubber.

Engineered

Industrial composite and carbon fiber.

Physical surface rendering

Materials combine color, fine surface relief, roughness variation, studio reflections, and directional metal or fiber detail. Use the category chips to move quickly, then click Next: Choose Background. Custom Material Color can tint the selected surface without removing its texture.

Build the scene around the product.

White / LightClean catalog, engineering, and marketplace presentation.
Dark / BlackHigh-contrast presentation for bright or metallic models.
Uploaded imageUse a room, studio set, lifestyle photo, gradient, or branded backdrop.
Brand assetsAdd the company logo and optional watermark to finished media.
Transparent PNG, visible MP4

PNG stills preserve transparency. Standard H.264 MP4 video does not, so Model Motion Studio automatically uses the Light studio when Transparent PNG is selected during video export.

Uploaded backgrounds

Choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP room, studio set, lifestyle scene, gradient, or branded graphic. Use Replace to change it or Remove to return to the Light studio.

Capture the exact composition as a high-resolution PNG.

The fast fixes.

The model is sideways or upside down.

Open Rotate. Use Tip Forward/Backward, Turn Left/Right, or Roll Left/Right in exact 90° steps, then click Save Rotation & Continue to Motion.

The model has no color.

STL and many CAD files contain geometry without presentation materials. Choose a surface in the Material Library, use Custom Material Color, or import a textured GLB.

The model rotates correctly, but Motion is unavailable.

Click Save Rotation & Continue to Motion. That saves the current product orientation as the starting pose for every effect.

The GLTF file has missing textures.

Use a GLB so textures and material data travel in one file. Multi-file GLTF packages are not yet imported as a bundle.

A very complex CAD file opens slowly.

CAD triangulation happens locally. Try a simplified export or a presentation-ready GLB for very large assemblies.

The preview movement looks different after I resize the window.

Stop and restart the motion after the viewer settles. The engine automatically reframes motion to the imported model and current workspace.

The exported video or 4K still is taking a while.

Rendering happens locally in the browser. Keep the tab open; longer videos, 4K resolution, and complex models require more processing.
